Minnesota Asbestos Cancer Meeting

According to recent reports health officials and politicians are set to meet this afternoon to discuss the asbestos cancer illnesses that have been conflicting iron or miners.

Reports claim that there has been a high rate of mesothelioma cancer amongst miners throughout Minnesota.

Mesothelioma Study Funded in Minnesota

The legislature supposedly allocated an estimated $5 million in April to study why men in northeastern Minnesota seem to be more subjectable to asbestos related diseases like mesothelioma cancer.

Men in this part of the country reportedly have twice the expected rate of mesothelioma cancers caused by asbestos then miners in other states.

More Mesothelioma Research to be Done

The University of Minnesota School of public Health is also assessing the health of active and retired miners.

They are reportedly reviewing death certificates and investigating the 58 deaths that have been caused by mesothelioma cancer.

The Natural Resources Research Institute is also analyzing iron ore samples and dust in the air, to see how much asbestos is in the air.
