Georgia School Asbestos Removal

Asbestos, which is a cancer causing material, has been found at the old Madison County Middle School in Georgia.

The asbestos was discovered in the midst of a renovation project being done at the school.

Asbestos Causes Delay

School officials were initially told that in order to remove the asbestos, the renovations would have to come to a stop for two-weeks and would cost the school system $200,000.

Now, school officials say the removal should only take a couple of days and cost $41,000.

“That’s much better than $200, 000,” said the relieved superintendent at the school, Dr. Mitch McGhee.

Continued Asbestos Problems

School officials admit that this isn’t the first time they’ve encountered problems with asbestos.

Asbestos was previously found under some tiling and a professional abatement crew was hired to conduct the asbestos removal.
