Baltimore Man Awarded $15.3M in Asbestos Case

-February 13, 2008

A sealant company in Baltimore was recently ordered by a jury to pay a man $15.3 million in an ongoing asbestos case.

The company was found to be responsible for the mesothelioma the man developed while employed with them.

Exposure at Work Leads to Illness

George J. Linkus was previously employed at John Crane Inc., where he worked on lining valves.

At the age of 73, he was diagnosed with mesothelioma and the jury found that the man's former employer was at fault.

Dangers of Asbestos

Asbestos is a known carcinogen and can often have a negative impact on those who are exposed to it through inhalation, ingestion, or the handling of the substance.

Until it was banned in the 1970's, asbestos was typically used and produced in factories around the world.

Therefore, millions of employees have reportedly been subjected to asbestos while at work.
