Asbestos has reportedly been found in several consumer products, including some of this season's most popular Christmas toys.
The Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization recently discovered asbestos was contained in the CSI Fingerprint Examination Kit.
Products Analyzed and Tested
The non-profit organization spent over $165,000 to hire government-certified laboratories so they could examine various consumer products over the last 18 months.
According to the results, the product that is causing the most concern is the CSI Fingerprint Examination Kit.
“We've asked our licensee to immediately conduct an independent test in the U.S. for asbestos. If the toy is determined to be unsafe, then we will insist that the licensee remove it from the market,” said a spokesman for CBS.
Organization Takes Action
The organization was developed to help those who have been exposed to asbestos and who are living with mesothelioma.
“This is information that consumers and Congress must have because asbestos is lethal and we naively believe that the government is protecting us, when it's not,” stated the group's co-founder, Linda Reinstein.
