At the end of the month, the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO), which is a nonprofit organization that enables asbestos victims and their families to have a voice, will reportedly hold their fourth annual Asbestos Awareness Day Conference.
Linda Reinstein, who is the co-founder of the organization, says that she had no idea the group would lead a global mission to help stop the manufacturing of the deadly substance.
Conference to Educate Public
At the conference, Reinstein will be joined by world renowned experts in the field in an effort to educate the public on asbestos and mesothelioma, a fatal disease linked with the carcinogen.
The conference will be held at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, Michigan and will help start Asbestos Awareness Week.
Former ADAO President Loses Battle with Mesothelioma
Alan Reinstein, the former president of ADAO and husband to Linda, recently lost his ongoing battle with mesothelioma due to asbestos exposure.
Reinstein was supposedly exposed to asbestos 50 years before his diagnosis through occupational exposure and home repairs.
“Alan courageously fought his battle with mesothelioma,” explains Reinstein. “He drew strength from his will to live and the love of family and friends. He was and still is an inspiration to all those impacted by asbestos-related diseases.”
